Face Butter, Less Fattening Than Real Butter.
"Your face looks weird with that stuff on it." - My boyfriend's opinion on Lush's Ultrabland Cleansing Balm.
He did have a point, there is something so weird about cleansing balms. You put this think greasy cream all over your face, and it's somehow cleaning it! I guess he didn't quite understand that I would be eventually washing it off.
I didn't think a cleansing balm would actually work on my skin, I was sure it would be far to heavy, but the idea of a clean-yet-still-hydrated face intrigued me. Not wanting to dive into a $50 cleanser, I decided to stop by Lush and give their $15 version a try.
When, I got to Lush to pick it up, I asked for it (in hopes to get some pointers and see the sales associate's reaction).
"Oh, my gosh! Have you used it yet? It's amazing!" - Gushed the Sales Associate... That's kinda the Lush response to everything, but I'm going to take that as a good enough sign. She then rushed me over to it, rubbed a dollop over the top of my hand, and proceded to wipe it off with a tea tree toner that I "Needed!" I appreciated her enthusiasm, and my hand DID feel soft, so I headed to the register with the cleanser, I left the toner... I didn't quite feel the need.
That night, after using my micellar water to remove my eye makeup, I rubbed the thick creamy stuff over my face. It felt weirdly luxurious, I just wanted to keep massaging my face over and over again. Then once I gained control of my routine away from my crazy massaging fingers it was time to remove it. I usually use a damp wash cloth or cotton pads. Be forwarned, if you're using cotton pads, you'll probably need 2 or 3. I also clean my hands off with a soap first, because the balm sticks and it's bothersome. It feels a lot like trying to remove butter, it's weird. That night I was using cotton pads, so I wet them a bit, squeezed them out and wiped the face butter off in upward strokes. Then I went on with the rest of my routine.
What did I think?
My skin felt really healthy. This gives your skin a kind of plump and moisturized feeling. If your one who loves that tight post wash feeling, this probably isn't for you. If you're looking to restore some moisture and looking for a youthful glow, this is defiantly worth a try! Me? I've just finished my second container, and I still get distracted massaging too long!
Anyone else try a cleansing balm? Which one? What did you think?
